Scott Bellows
Scott Bellows, JD, brings over 23 years of full-time experience in mediation, arbitration, and facilitation to In-Accord. A graduate of UC Davis (BA and JD), he is licensed to practice law in Oregon and is an inactive member of the California Bar. Scott has extensive training in facilitative and transformative mediation, special education disputes, and team facilitation methods such as Open Space Technology, from Willamette University, University of Washington, and the Institute for Conflict Transformation.
Scott began his conflict resolution career in 1985 by helping establish a university-based community mediation program. He practiced law as a litigation attorney in Oregon and California from 1987 to 2002, participating in hundreds of mediations, arbitrations, and settlement conferences.
Since 2002, he has worked exclusively in dispute resolution, handling a wide range of matters including special education, employment and labor issues, workplace discrimination, family disputes, public policy, and faith-based conflicts. His former clients and mediation roster work includes the U.S. Forest Service, U.S. Postal Service, Oregon Court of Appeals, Oregon Attorney General, Oregon Department of Education, Employee Assistance Programs, federal courts, and multiple other agencies. Scott also represents roster mediators on the Oregon Department of Education Dispute Resolution Committee.
Committed to public service, Scott has served on various nonprofit boards and professional committees, including the Oregon State Bar’s Alternative Dispute Resolution Section, Portland Mountain Rescue, and public-school leadership teams. He was the volunteer legal counsel for Habitat for Humanity and serves as a certified Wilderness First Responder.
